What is the Quadra?

The Melbourne Theranostic Innovation Centre has established a partnership with Siemens Healthineers to provide patients with the world's most sensitive PET/CT scanner that can simultaneously image the body from the brain to the pelvis, the Biograph Vision Quadra.

The state-of-the-art Quadra uses pioneering technology in the PET/CT scanning field which is ten times more accurate than conventional PET/CT scanners.

Due to the larger PET field of view and the improved time- of-flight capabilities of the Quadra we can perform faster, highly sensitive scans using less radiation dose than ever before, which is of particular benefit for patients requiring multiple scans for screening or follow up of cancer treatment, children and pregnant women.

The research potential using the Quadra is astronomical as we have the ability to perform studies with dynamic whole-body imaging, as a result multi- organ kinetics can be determined, eliminating the need for invasive sampling on patients.
